Downtown Food Bank

 ABOUT US...

With your help, the Downtown Food Bank has been able to distribute more than 450,000 pounds of

donated groceries to over 2,000 households annually.

Since 1993, FoodLink has been a valuable partner in providing food to the Downtown Food Bank.  FoodLink

volunteers generously donate their time each weekday (June through September), walking through Pike Place Market

collecting unsold produce from Market farmers and vendors.

For more information regarding food drives and/or volunteer opportunities, please contact Downtown Food

   Manager, Kevin Futhey.

HISTORY

Founded in 1979, the Downtown Food Bank was originally house in the Morrison Hotel, a public housing project in Seattle's Pioneer Square.

Because the demand for its services was so great, the Food Bank soon found itself in need of a larger space.

In 1980, the Food Bank partnered with the Pike Market Senior Center - a natural fit since many of the Senior
Center members were regular visitors to the Food Bank.

In 1989, the Downtown Food Bank moved to its current location on the 5th level of the Public Market parking
   garage.
